From West over the Glacier de la Plaine Morte Wildstrubel / Lenkerstrubel 3244 m

- 2:30–3 h, 630 m
An easy and short hike from the Wildstrubelhütte (or the Crans Montana cable car station) across an easy glacier. The tour leads over the large, almost flat and sadly fast retreating Glacier de la Plaine Morte; standard glacier equipment is required here, but it is a technically simple crossing as the glacier is virtually flat. Only the glacier edges may be tricky to negotiate. The tour is ideally combined with a descent on the NW side down to Lenk.
Route description
Wildstrubelhütte - western edge of the Glacier
From the Wildstrubelhütte (2791 m), go over the Wisshorelücke and continue in an easterly direction descending to the glacier edge.
Glacier de la Plaine Morte
Cross the Glacier de la Plaine Morte, bearing slowly from west through north-west to reach the foot of the rubble-strewn southwest ridge, which comes down from the Wildstrubel.
Glacier edge - Summit
Enter the southwest ridge at a suitable place at about 2760 m and follow faint tracks/markings towards pt. 2909. At about 3000 m join the clearly visible path that leads up directly from Lenk. Continue along this to reach the summit.
Descent
Follow the line of ascent.
