The route is in the environs of Saint-Luc in the Val d’Anniviers. The wide Vallon du Toûno presents a good opportunity for an early season tour. Further up the slopes which are never too steep the route follows a small valley. This leads up to the ridge and the summit.
Route description
Hotel Weisshorn - Lac du Toûno - Turtmannspitze
From the Weisshorn Hotel (2337 m), ascend on gentle slopes to a plain called Tsa du Toûno. At the Le Vijivi chalet (2420 m) gradually turn E along a creek to the foot of the S face of Le Toûno and continue to Lac du Toûno. From P. 2649 ascend a first steeper slope leading up towards the ridge. Shortly before the ridge turn right into a small valley and ascend the last slope under the summit. Normally the last stretch is negotiated on foot.
It is also possible to start at Combavert (2198 m) right on the verge of the Piste du Prillet (if you use the lifts of Saint-Luc).
Descent
On the ascent to Le Vijivi, then continue towards Les Faches and the bridge across the creek (2246 m). From the Combavert ski down directly to Saint-Luc (1676 m) on the Piste du Prillet.
