The access described here is for the spring, when the road through Turtmanntal is open, normally after Whitsun. It is not recommended to use this access to the cabin in winter: the valley is long and the avalanche risk considerable. It is preferable to use the route from the St-Luc skiing area. Turtmannhütte is the starting point for climbing Brunegghorn, Barrhörner, Wasuhorn, Pipjispitz, Omen Roso, Wängerhorn and to Cabane de Tracuit CAS. The route is on the road to the regulating reservoir of Kraftwerke Anniviers (Turtmannsee) and then ascends on the old moraine of Brunegggletscher.
