Many ways lead to the Tierberglihütte
A "normal" hut path leads to the Tierbergli hut, which can be shortened by one third by driving to the car park Umpol (about 2100 m). From this parking lot you can also reach the entrance to the first part of a via ferrata. The first section of via ferrata ends near P. 2427, where the hut path intersects it. Here you can either ascend to complete the second part of the via ferrata or ascend via the "normal" hut path to the Tierbergli hut. Warning! Take proper shock absorbing slings if you intend to use the 'via ferrata' - normal slings are not rated for this purpose.
Route description
Steingletscher (below Sustenpass) to Parkplatz Umpol bei P 2111
From the Steingletscher (1865m) follow the red-white marked trail, partly on the road to reach the car park at Umpol (about 2100m) or by car on the toll road (5 francs).
Umpol to the Tierberglihütte
From the car park Umpol ca. 2100m follow the blue-white marked trail to Tierberglihütte.
