Tiefenstock 3515 m Alpinism
This rewarding peak, most often visited in winter, belongs to the Wintergeberge chain (Wintery-mountains). In the vernacular, this range is also called the 'Dammakette'. On the chain's eastern side, the walls drop steeply down to the crumbled Dammagletscher; to the west the Rhone Glacier forms a long silvery border. All routes to the Tiefenstock take you through this enchanting high alpine terrain to the summit, where a fantastic view down to the Dammabecken (bowl) with its embedded Göscheneralpsee (lake).
