This, the easiest and most convenient approach to the Spitzmeilen hut is particularly suited to family adventures or as a prelude to longer mountain tours in the region. Many brooks and ponds invite you to play and Alp Fursch, which is on route, offers refreshments. The somewhat longer hike around Alp Fursch provides a nice alternaitve for either ascent or descent.

Route description

Maschgenchamm – Fursch – Spitzmeilenhütte SAC

Follow the marked path from the Maschgenkamm mountain station down to the Maschgalugge. Traverse the E-facing slopes to Fursch (P.1792) then climb southwards over alpine meadows via Bäli to the hut.

Variant: Zigerfurgglen – Calans

From the Maschgenkamm head west along the ridge over the small summit of Ziger to the Zigerfurgglen. From here drop down southwards to the alpine meadows above Fursch, keeping height to pass above the Calnshüttli (P. 1987). Continue via Mietboden, then E across Bäli to join the final short stretch of the main route.
