The big cone
Those who want to climb Spitzmeilen, should travel by public transport, as this region offers so many access possibilities that it is ideal for deciding spontaneously where to descend or to spend the night at Spitzmeilenhütte. The tour described here has relatively few metres of vertical height and can be undertaken in one day. Spitzmeilen, a limestone peg surrounded by red and green verrucano, requires climbing on the last 80 metres of vertical height

The difficulties are limited to climbing the summit proper. The fairly steep chimney on the east side is equipped with chains and fixed ropes (two passages are grade III). The climbing passages require experience or talent. Moreover, there is a risk of rock fall. Using a rope and wearing a helmet is recommended (fix the rope on the anchors of the chains; there is also an abseil anchor).
