A classic training tour from Simplonpass without difficulties; it can be undertaken right after a snowfall, provided that you traverse the slopes of Weng at the bottom. There is a fantastic viewpoint above the deep valleys of the Gamsa (Nanztal) and the Nesselbach.
Route description
Simplonpass - Üsseri Nanzlicke
From one of the bus stops or parking lots along the road across the Simplon (ca. 2000 m) go westward to the hamlet of Hopsche. The terrain is very complex so orientation is somewhat difficult. Continue westward past P. 2189 and climb a short, slightly steep slope to traverse the wide valley between Straffulgrat and Tochuhorn. Stay on the summer trail to ascend on the valley floor and avoid the steep slopes to the right and left. You reach Üsseri Nanzlicke (2602 m) in gentle terrain.
Üsseri Nanzlicke – Spitzhorli
Ascend north through the often-windy SSW slope leading up to the secondary summit (2729 m) and the main summit (2737 m).
