Teh Schweizerweg
The Schweizerweg (Swiss trail) leads directly up to Schesaplana from Schesaplanahütte. It goes through a rocky escarpment that, viewed from afar, seems to be insurmountable. Actually, it is surprisingly easy to hike up and down this passage. In the upper part of the ascent you go along a number of ledges which are of geological interest. The whole tour is ideal for alpine hiking rookies.
Route description
Schesaplanahütte - Schweizerweg - Schesaplana
From Schesaplanahütte ascend steeply on a blue-white marked trail to the rocky escarpment. Following the fall line and past schrofen steps hike up to P. 2427. There the trail turns eastward to traverse the huge talus on schist ledges. From Schesaplanasattel go northward directly to the summit.
Schesaplana - Gamsluggen – Schesaplanahütte
Descend 40 metres of vertical height, then turn eastward to reach Totalp, overcoming a steep step. Continue to descend to Gamsluggen, where some chains secure the way down to Prättigauer Höhenweg, which you follow to Schesaplanahütte.
