Route description
Summit - base of the couloir
From the summit, follow the ridge for about 150 m (tracks). Then bare north away from the ridge to reach the glacier plateau (cairns, red marks, cables). Follow this down into the couloir.
Base of the couloir - Salbitenstafel
Follow an intermittent path through the scree.
Salbitenstafel - Salbithütte
Join the main path.

In early season, the descent time can be shortened thanks to the presence of snow, which makes it easier to cross difficult screes.

Requires down climbing (2c). Some passages are equipped with cables.
When descending from the summit, keep to the right most path through the gully (looking down). Do not walk over the old snow; there is a significant risk of breaking through into the torrent below.
