The short cut, or the long way round?
The long climb through the valley of Witenwasseren can be massively shortened with a car ride to Oberstafel (Toll Road, tickets available from Rathaus Ursern, Gotthardstrasse 74, 6490 Andermatt, on the App "Parkingpay" or in the tourist office in Andermatt). From Oberstafel you can reach the beautifully located Rotondo hut in one hour.
Route description
Realp - P. 2155
From Realp (1538 m) follow the military road (permit required if by car) into Witenwasserental and up to P. 2155 just before the Witenwasserenstafel.
Punkt 2155 - Rotondohütte
You can reach the Rotondo hut via the pastures of Tälli on a various footpaths, some of which are well worn.
Oberstafel - Rotondohütte
If driving to Oberstafel, a lower path leads SW past the hump of P. 2300.
