Classic skitour at the back of Diemtigtal
The ascent from the Grimmialp to the Rauflihorn is one of the classic ski tours of Diemtigtal. It is easily accessible by public transport and can be shortened by taking the Grimmialp chair lifts. At first a leisurely shuffle through forest, later a romp over the wide open landscape of Grimmi, then steeper up to the Grimmifurggi (pass). The final summit slope is moderate in angle, but can be blown off. On beautiful winter days, the slopes are understandably, quickly tracked!
Route description
Grimmialp - Grimmifurggi - Rauflihore
From Hotel Spillgerten at Grimmialp head into the valley and cross a bridge (1224 m) over the Senggibach (stream). After a short distance you can either cross back to the south side and climb more steeply up, or stay on the north side and follow the road all the way (flatter, less interesting). From P. 1409 it is best to continue following the road through the forest to the lower huts of Alp Grimmi (1739 m). From there, you can make your own way, more or less south, up to the pass (Grimmifurggi, 2022 m). Finally, follow the broad W ridge to the flat summit of the Rauflihorn.
With the lifts
From the top of the chair lifts it is possible to traverse, by skiing first slightly down, then skinning gently back up to reach a flat basin at 1808 m. From here it is more or less flat round to the upper huts of Alp Grimmi at 1838 m.
Descent
Follow the route of ascent. With a lot of snow it is possible to descend more directly from the flats of Alp Grimmi to join the track just above P. 1509.
