Pizzo Rotondo 3192 m Alpinism
The Pizzo Rotondo towers high above the Bedretto valley with its distinctive summit fin. From Airolo, it is unmistakable. With a height of 3192m, it is the dominant mountain between the pass roads of Nufenen, Furka and Gotthardpass. South of the Leventina, only the Basòdino in Ticino is higher, otherwise only the Adula group can boast higher summits. While visited in abundance in winter despite its difficulty, this peak is almost ignored in the summer; a pity, as it offers a delightful tour over the south ridge with easy climbing in good rock.
