It is a high mountain ski tour to a summit which offers a magnificent panorama. The summit ridge is fairly steep, but generally well climbable. Do not forget an ice axe and crampons. The descent northward to Heidelberger Hütte promises powder snow. The descent through the Val Laver valley and towards Engadine requires very safe conditions; however, only the uppermost part is really good skiing. An alternative descent towards Engadine is across Fuorcla Campatsch to the Scuol skiing area. Piz Laver immediately east of Fuorcla da Tasna may be an alternative target, if the conditions are not good enough to climb Piz Tasna.
Route description
Heidelberger Hütte – ski depot
From Heidelberger Hütte (2264 m) ascend southward until the flat basin of Foppa Trida. Now ascend south-westward on moderately steep slopes to reach Fuorcla da Tasna (2807 m). West of Piz Laver traverse south-eastward to set foot on the moderately steep Vadret da Tasna. Ascend the glacier until the E shoulder of Piz Tasna. Leave your skis in the ski depot at ca. 3100 m.
Ski depot – summit
From the ski depot on foot follow the E ridge on its S side, the last stretch fairly steep, to reach the summit.
