The route crosses wide alpine pastures with numerous lakes, where the slopes are never too steep. On the other hand, the final ascent over the often windswept NNE ridge requires special attention. Thanks to the N slope exposure, the snow conditions are often excellent. Cabane Brunet is along the route and can serve as a stopover.
Route description
Cabane Brunet - NE ridge
From the cabin (2103 m) ascend south-south-west to the wide plateau of La Chaux (2374 m). Cross the pastures and then ascend to Goli d’Aget (2760 m) negotiating a narrow passage. From here reach the NE ridge at P. 2881.
NE ridge – summit
Bypassing some cliffs to the right, follow the NE ridge to the summit. It is wide in the beginning, as you go along it narrows and is often wind-swept.
