Lochberg 3078 m Alpine climbing
A beautiful, easy-to-reach mountain, which offers impressive views of the glaciated basin of the Wintergeberge. It is usually climbed only to
P. 3073, which stands about 175 m northwest of the highest point, P. 3078 m. In recent decades, the summit glacier, known as the Rund Firn, has been hammered. The freshly uncovered rocks brought many new crystal seams into light. For this reason, the area around the Lochberg is often visited by Crystal Seekers. The well-known Jahrhundertkluft of Planggenstock, a side peak of Lochberg, provides probably the most impressive proof of the crystal wealth of this region.
