Nice and popular approach to the Leglerhütte in winter. Also possible with snowshoes. The Legelerhütte, and its ski tour destinations such as the Chli Chärpf, are located in the Freiberg Chärpf game reserve. Tours such as Hinter Blistock, Schwarz Tschingel and the descent from Chli Chärpf to Bischofbach are within the game reserve's boundaries; do not leave official routes! The Kies-Mettmen cable car runs in winter during the holidays and on weekends.
Route description
Mettmen - Leglerhütte
From the top cable carstation (approx. 1600 m) pass Berghotel Mettmen at northeastern end of the Garichti reservoir and head southeast along the northern shore and round to point 1648 to the alluvial plain of Matt. At the southern end of this circular plain you climb directly up the valley on the east of the Niderenbach (stream), before joining the line of the summer path again at about 1760 m. Go south to the huts of Niderenalp and all the way along the valley floor to point 1923. Climb the gentle slopes SW, then arc round W up to P. 2108. From here continue up to the saddle (Sunnenbergfurggele, 2210 m), then left (SW) upslope to about 2300 m, before contouring round and gliding gently down to the Leglerhütte on its rock pedestal.
