This is a very sunny and multifaceted, short tour, which can be undertaken in any conditions, even with little snow. The ascent described here from Oberberg via Sternenegg and the direct descent to Illgau are highly recommended.
Route description
St. Karl (Illgau) – Laucherenstöckli
From the summit station of the Illgau – Vorderoberberg aerial cableway (ca. 1175 m) ascend to the Oberberg terrace. Continue north-eastward via Chaltenbrunnen to the ridge south-east of Hudelschijen. Slightly descending, follow the ridge eastward to P. 1497. Here the ascent meets the snowshoe hiking path from Ibergeregg. Continue on the ridge to Windegg via P. 1545. Following the ridge, you reach the summit.
Descent to Illgau
You can descend southward as far as Illgau: descend via Chruthüttli and Rieter. At P. 1135 cross Hinderist Tobel on the road north-westward and continue to the village via Riedmatt.
