La Muongia is an ideal beginner's tour with a small glacier crossing and some easy rock climbing. The route to Fuorcla da Chapütschin crosses a less crevassed zone than the route to Fuorcla dal Glüschaint.
Route description
Chamanna Coaz - Vadret da Roseg (glacier)
From the hut, head south off the moraine path, then upwards to a junction of the Vadret da Roseg glacier. The many cairns at the beginning are unhelful at night, an exploration the previous evening is therefore useful.
Vadret da Roseg - Fuorcla dal Glüschaint - La Muongia
The route over the glacier depends on the crevasse situation; first keep to the southeast, overcome a steep step and bypass the rocky island P. 3187 to the east. The crevasse zone leads south to the flat glacier plateau below the Piz Glüschaint and the Fuorcla dal Glüschaint. From there turn north-west and reach the foot of the southeast ridge via the broad snow ridge and a brief descent. Along this in easy climbing to the summit in a few minutes.
Descent
Follow the route of ascent.
