Not a very cheap hut approach (since it means taking the Jungfraubahn), but it does mean you can tag a decent summit on your first day (Trugberg/ Walcherhorn for example).
Route description
Jungfraujoch – Obers Mönchsjoch – Skidepot
From the Jungfraujoch, tunnel exit (Sphinxstollen, 3464 m), follow the usually pisted approach to the Mönchsjochhütte. From the Obers Mönchsjoch (3623 m), descend the eastern edge of the gently sloping Ewigschneefäld down to the rock spur (P. 3147). After this follows a dangerous crevasse zone: stay on the glacier edge as you descend, but in the lower half either bear left across the mountain flank if conditions allow, or bear right further onto the main body of the glacier (a few mean crevasses in the direction of travel have caught a few people out recently!). Once down at Konkordiaplatz, turn SE and head for the base of the spur leading down from Fülbärg. Find a suitable ski depot (approx. 2720 m) at the base of the never ending staircase (crux of the day!).
Skidepot - Konkordiahütte
Up, up up the stairs we go! Beer is waiting on the sun terrace.
