Only the north-west facing slopes along the 2 km long summit ridge of Hundsrügg are steep, rugged and dangerous. The routes to the summit on all the other sides are easy, very sunny and sometimes even rather flat. The pioneer skier Arnold Lunn wrote in 1911: «The view from the Hundsrück is fine, but the proportion of walking to running, during the descent, is rather high.»
