Hochmatt 2151 m Mountain hiking
The Hochmatt range has only two summits, which stand very close together: Cheval Blanc (2146 m) and Hochmatt (2151 m). The Hochmatt range has almost been forgotten, as it is overshadowed by Gastlosen and the Vanil Noir range nearby. But Hochmatt is worth visiting, especially as the route along Arête Verdy is exceptional.
The Hochmatt range has four ridges and four faces. The N face above the Jogne valley is steep and rocky. The other faces are grassy and partially forested. The W face rises above the Ruisseau du Gros Mont, while the E face borders the lower part of Petit Mont.
