It is a short, but pretty ski tour for the high winter in a multifaceted terrain offering a view to the Alpstein range. If the eastern summit ridge is wind-swept and snow-free, Hochalp can be ascended and descended on the western ridge. The small road to the western summit (mountain restaurant) is mostly ploughed and open for sledging. The steep stretches through the forest require sufficient snow.
