This is THE classic route in the Sörenberg region. So, expect crowds of ski tourists and snowshoe hikers. The complex, hilly terrain made of karst limestone requires a thick layer of snow and good visibility. If there is no ascent track, which is a very unlikely occurrence, it is difficult to find the best ascent itinerary.
Route description
Hirsegg – Hängst
From the Sörenberg, Hirsegg (1071 m) bus stop go to Südelbachbrücke and continue south-westward on the distinct ridge of Stächelegg to reach Alp Schlund (1466 m). Alternatively, you can reach the same point by starting at Salwideli and following the alp access road (30 min.). From Schlund ascend to P. 1486. Follow the summer trail in complex terrain to reach the wide bowl below the Schratteflue ridge. Continue to the summit.
