This is a classic, often undertaken ski tour in the sunlit slopes above Amden. The best conditions are found on a cold winter day with powder snow. In the spring the descent is only pleasurable with sufficient snow, as on the steep slopes snow melts quickly.
Route description
Arvenbüel bus station – Gulmen
From the Arvenbüel bus stop, Arven (1272 m) go north to reach the winter hiking path. It leads north-eastward to the Vorderhöhi col (1533 m) via Rossagg (1413 m) and Altschen (1388 m). From there follow the ridge westward to the summit. The short escarpment is overcome better right along the eastridge (only in safe conditionson on the summer trail), otherwise !) in the ascent to the Gulme.. If the conditions are good, you can ascend directly on the south-east face "Egg".
Descent
On the ascent: from Altschen follow the road via Sell to the ski lift, which brings you back to Arvenbüel.

Even on a modest mountain such as Gulmen, avalanches are possible, Beware of the slope above the Vorder Höhi!
