This is a fairly easy and short ski tour above Lake Thun. The view to Justistal 1000 metres down and to Sigriswilergrat vis-à-vis is spectacular. Using the ski lift saves 1 hour on the ascent. On rare occasions it is possible to ski down to Sundlauenen.
Route description
Hohwald ski lift summit station – Gemmenalphorn
From the summit of the Hohwald ski lift (ca. 1610 m) go horizontally northward on the road to reach the chalet at Chüematte (1691 m). Continue north-westward through a sparse forest to Oberberg (1816 m). Ascend more steeply to P. 1980 south of Gemmenalphorn. Follow the ridge northward, overcoming a slightly exposed, rocky escarpment to the east, to reach the summit.
