The rather flat ski tour across Rickhubel to Fürstein, which offers magnificent views, is also very popular among snowshoe hikers. The ascent and the alternative descents have a number of combinations from which you choose at your discretion. When skiing down from Fürstein in the picturesque Ober-Sewen bowl, the slope exposure can be chosen freely, so that you almost certainly find good snow conditions.
Route description
Langis - Rickhubel - Fürstein
From the Langis (1442 m) bus stop on the road across Glaubenberg walk to the highest point (1539 m) of the col. From there go westward, initially through a sparse forest, to reach Rickhubel (1943 m) via Rick. On the summer trail on the wide ridge you reach the summit structure of Fürstein. Follow the ridge to the summit.
Variant via Sewen
From the Langis (1442 m) bus stop follow the road towards Glaubenbergpass. After about 1 km leave the road to go westward in pastures interspersed with trees to reach the alp access road leading south-westward to P. 1659 in the Gross Trogen bowl. Ascend westward to the col (1755 m) between Sewenegg and Trogenegg. Now descend slightly on the alp access road to the chapel at P. 1719. Traverse the Ober-Sewen bowl and ascend the Fürstein south-east face to the summit.
Descent
On the ascent or alternatively on the variant: in both cases you need to negotiate a re-ascent of at least 50 metres of vertical height.
