Föhrenturm 1750 m Alpine climbing
Separated from the small Bockmattliturm by an inconspicuous notch (referred to as Tower Gap), the Föhrenturm forms the western bulwark and at the same time the most varied climbing arena of the Bockmattli. In the 300 m high northwest face are ten routes, though only about half are regularly climbed. The two redeveloped, classic old north-wall routes (one on Föhren- and one on Kl. Bockmattliturm) have some inspiring lengths in water runnel limestone. Then there is the route Roter (red) Winter, as well as two superb modern routes with contemporary bolting, which largely avoid the grass bands and lead in direct lines to the summit or the west shoulder.
