Flimser Stein 2054 m Via ferrata
The Flimserstein is located north of Flims, high above the Surselva. Towards the south, steep walls break off towards Fidaz, to the east is Alp Bargis, to the west is Narau and the ski area Flims / Laax; a wide, gentle plateau in the Bündner Surselva. The highest point is the 2679 metre high Cassonsgrat, on which a mountain railway ran until 2017. The Flimserstein was the scene of the Flims Landslide, which fell about 10,000 years ago, and was one of the largest known alpine landslides of all time.
On its steep south side are the terraces of Pinut, which were utilised in earlier times for grazing and cultivation of wild hay. These terraces became known mainly through the historic Pinut via ferrata , Switzerland's first ferrata intended for tourists.
