Route description
Les Plans sur-Bex - Start
From Les Plans-sur-Bex (1096 m) continue along the main road past Chapelle Notre-Dame-des-Neiges and to Mamont, then take the path signed "par les échelles" to Pont de Nant. Ascend beside the mountain stream, pass the water intake, and enter a rock tunnel. Briefly touch the road, but continue along the footpath, twice crossing the mountain stream ... then brush the road again, near where it ends at Pont de Nant (ca. 1240 m, large car park)), then cross another stream. Continue east along the trail sigposted "Le Richard". At the junction P. 1372, take the path to the left, which crosses a stream before zig-zagging up through the forest. After the fourth bend with the unmarked turn-off (ca. 1465 m) the path steers left to the chalet of Le Lavanchy. At the end of the bend, as the path straightens out, you'll reach a flat spot with a mighty tree on top of a stone. Just behind it, a track branches off to right (north), climbing briefly through the forest to the foot of the rock wall and the start of the Le Lavanchy via ferrata (ca. 1490 m).
