The Eggishorn (2926 m) has one of the most beautiful panoramic views found in the Goms region. Xaver Imfeld (1853-1909), the ingenious panoramatic artist, already knew that; he has captured this view in some of his incredible paintings. However, he had to climb on foot from Fiesch, a proper mountain tour. Today, it is possible to ascend comfortably attached to thick steel cables as far as the top cable car station on the Fiescherhorli at 2869 m, just a stone's throw from the Eggishorn summit. Cables have also been hanging from the rocks of Fiescherhorli (2893 m) for a few years; from the cable car cabin you can see climbers walking an 'iron way' over its precipices, stepping across the shaky three-cable bridge and balancing along the jagged ridge, all of them looking forward to the magnificent view of the largest alpine ice stream; the Aletschgletcher.
