From Randa via Festiflüe (Normal route) Domhütte SAC 2940 m

The hut path leads from Randa up through steep forest to just before the Europahütte. From there it gets even steeper: a white-blue-white marked alpine hiking path leads up through the imposing Festiflüe. The path was renovated in 2007, and all difficult or exposed sections are well secured (iron steps, ropes). Since 2017, the almost 500 m long suspension bridge has offered an attractive alternative approach... for those who like heights of course.
Route description
Randa - (Europahütte) - Festiflüe
From the Randa train station (1409 m), hike through the village, past the church (1439 m), then straight on through a meadow to the bridge (1536 m) over the Dorfbach stream. Continue until shortly before Gere, then turn right. Now climb up through the Lärchberg forest, past P. 1870 m and along to meet the NE end of the suspension bridge. From here, zigzag straight up in open terrain (a left turn would lead to the Europahütte at 2264 m. Continuing up and right brings you to the base of the Festiflüe (T2).
Festiflüe - Domhütte
From the foot of the Festiflüe, the route through this imposing, steep bastion leads cleverly up over rock steps and rubble slopes. It is equipped with many ropes, iron rungs and is rated (T4). Finally you come out onto the scree fields above and can weave your way more gently up to the hut, which appears only at the last moment. (Allow 3 hours for the descent).
Variant via the suspension bridge
From Randa, just after the church turn right and follow the signed path to Höüschubiel to cross the suspension bridge or "Hängebrücke". Thereafter follow the normal route to the Domhütte (Variant roughly 20 mins longer).
