Climbing area Stockhorn 2070 m Climbing
The Stockhorn is considered as the local mountain of Thun and is seen from far away in the Mittelland. Its impressive north wall was already climbed at the start of the last century.
The routes to the east of the mountain station are accessible by 3 x 50 meters abseils and are more difficult to climb. The rock is rough, but the routes are very well bolted. This sector is only suitable for experienced multi-pitch climbers.
West of the mountain station, the rock is plastered with bolts. The lines are often close together and require attention to stay on track. A very popular practice area for beginners.
The route "Chum and Lueg" on the Stockhorn-Westgrat is also set up for beginners: www.sac-cas.ch/en/huts-and-tours/sac-route-portal/1887/alpine_climbing/1160/
