Popular ski tour from Münster via the panoramic Galmihornhütte. Avalanche conditions need to be safe in the hidden valley before the summit. If you have any doubts, the summit of Treichbode makes an ideal alternative.
Route description
Münster – Bawald – Galmihornhütte
From Münster train station (1364 m), head north-west through the village to the Galmihornhütte road, which is quite flat but leads easily in large bends through the Bawald to the hairpin curve (1888 m). Continue in the same direction to P. 1913, then turn left (SW) and ascend the broad ridge to the hut. If there is enough snow, you can ascend more directly from the village on SE slopes first to Riti, then quite steeply in line with the summer path through the forest to the Judestafel.
Galmihornhütte – Treichbode – Chly Chastelhorn
From the Galmihornhütte (2106 m) head northwest, first along the ridge, then in the varied terrain via Undere- and Obere Treichbode to another plateau ca. 2520 m. From here you arc round to the west and ascend a small valley to the saddle between Chly - and Gross Chastelhorn. Climb the short north ridge to the highest point in just a few minutes.
