High above the reservoir...
Since the construction of the Göscheneralp reservoir in the 1950s, an additional 150 meters in altitude have to be mastered while on route to the Chelenalphütte. The reward is a constant panorama of the mighty east walls of Dammastock chain, the highest peaks in Uri. Before the path descends again into Chelenalptal (name of the Göschnertal valley behind the reservoir), you have to cross an exemplary moorland plain. Follow the young Chelenreuss (stream) for half an hour, then the path zig-zags over the steep slope to the hut - where you have more than earned a cool drink.
Route description
Göscheneralp - Hinter Röti - Chelenalphütte
From Hotel Dammagletscher (1782 m), follow the good path to the flat, moorland plateau of "Berg". Continue, slowly losing height again, to the western end of Lake Göscheneralp. Now follow the path north of Chelenreuss via Hinter Röti (1925 m) to a large Steinmann at P. 2129 m. Now its steeply up to the hut.
