Rather long and flat approach. There is a cross-country ski trail on the road leading to Lag Cavloc. This enables relatively easy progress. When the snow conditions are very good, the cross-country ski trail even reaches almost as far as Plan Canin (1975m). Two variants are possible on the final ascent to the hut.

Route description

Maloja – Capanna del Forno CAS

From Passo del Maloja (approx. 1805 m) head SE across the plain of Lan Palü to a bridge at P. 1793. Cross the bridge and you follow the alpine road to the Lägh da Cavloc (lake, 1908 m) and alp of the same name, then continue on the line of the summer path to the small reservoir above Plan Canin (1986 m). Follow the stream in a southerly direction until you reach Vadrec del Forno, keeping as close as possible to the centre of the valley. After reaching P. 2232, zigzag up the moraine on the left in southeast direction. First south of, then up to the hut in the area of the hut path.

Variant south through the couloir

If the conditions in the area of the summer path described above are unfavourable, it is better to use a couloir directly below the hut for the final ascent, which you can leave halfway up to the right in order to reach the hut by ascending north-eastwards.
