The normal approach to the Capanna Cadlimo leads through the magical lake landscape of Alpe Ritom. But first you can enjoy one of the steepest funicular railways in Europe, which climbs almost 800 vertical metres from Piotta to the Piora mountain station with a gradient of up to 87.8 percent.
Route description
Piora - Alpe Ritom - Capanna Cadlimo
From the Piora funicular station (1794 m), contour NE to the Lago Ritóm dam (1851 m). Follow the north-west bank of the reservoir until Alpe Ritóm, then climb up to Lago di Tom junction (2026 m) and follow the marked path to Bassa del Lago Scuro (2477 m) then finally up past Lago di Dentro to Capanna Cadlimo. Including the small lakes at Taneda there are 6 lakes to pass on route!
