A long, but leisurely tour – perfect with a mountain bike
Val di Carassino – often called Val Carassina – is an outstretched valley used for grazing in summer. That’s why it was made accessible by a dirt road, on which mountain bikers progress faster than hikers, of course. In any case it is a long, but leisurely tour with only few metres of vertical height.
Route description
Luzzone - Capanna Adula CAS
From the bus stop cross the dam and follow a small winding road to the entrance of a tunnel. Enter the tunnel (Caution, cars driving through! The tunnel is very narrow) and leave it 15 minutes later. Now hike up via Passo Muazz to the small reservoir of Carassino. Continue on the dirt road into the valley, past some alps and to Cappella di Termine at the valley end. Now ascend gently to the cabin.

The dam of the Carassino reservoir can (almost) be reached by car or Alpentaxi, but the tunnel you drive through is very (!) narrow, and the parking space is limited. Saves about 45 minutes.
