The approach starts at the small lake (parking area/ bus stop). It is one of the shortest routes to a high mountain hut and makes the Cabane de Moiry a popular destination for day trippers. Unique panorama with the glacier of the Glacier de Moiry on the left and the Lac de Châteaupré on the right.
Route description
Lac de Châteaupré - Cabane de Moiry
From Lac de Châteaupré, up valley from the turquoise-blue waters of Lac de Moiry, a path leads first eastwards, then gradually south over alpine meadows and moraine debris to the crest of the east lateral moraine of the Glacier de Moiry. Follow the moraine a short way then drop down into the depression behind it. A good zigzag path now leads steeply up SE up to the hut on its rocky shoulder (2825 m).
