Bosco Gurin is a small Walser village in the uppermost part of Vallemaggia. Initially the ascent is through a sparse forest, then on wide, open slopes. The first part of the ascent is along the ski runs of the Bosco Gurin skiing area, which has its highest point above 2000 m. At the beginning or end of the season, when the ski-lifts are out of operation, this is perfect ski touring terrain. Bodmespitz (P. 2407, unnamed on the map) is in Italian territory.
Route description
Bosco Gurin – Bodmespitz summit
From Bosco Gurin (ca. 1480 m) or from the parking lot of the ski-lifts behind the characteristic row of stables ascend north-westward. Follow the ski-run via Eggu towards the bottom station of a ski-lift, then ascend via Cormunoscht (1730 m) to Teil (1870 m). Now ascend westward on the wide slopes interspersed with trees until below the south wall of Pizzo Stella at Undar d'Martscha. Traverse to Guriner Furggu (2323 m) by making an arc northward in order to stay away from the ski-run. Descend to ca. 2200 m, then ascend to Alpe Bodme (2241 m). From here ascend the south-facing summit slope (30°) to the summit, which actually consists of two points close to each other.
Descent
On the ascent (re-ascent of 120 m of vertical height back to Guriner Furggu)
