Route description
Oeschinensee - Underbärgli - Hohtürli - Blüemlisalphütte
From the top cablecar station (1683 m), take the road east to the Oeschinensee (from P. 1670 the path signposted "Sennhütte Restaurant im Läger"). From here a broad mountain path leads along the striking rock bands north of Oeschinensee and over to Alp Underbärgli. Then the path leads over the rock bar north of the Alp to reach the plateau of Alp Oberbärgli (1977 m). From there bear east, then NE to gain the crest of Schafläger, before following a ledge onto the southern flank of the Schwarzhore. Climb diagonally across the wide scree slope and eventually gain the rocky ridge at Hohtürli. The Blüemlisalphütte is not just a few minutes away.
Variant via Heuberge (rewarding)
A promising, senic and recommended alternative. From P. 1685 before Läger, branch off and climb steeply to the NE. Then simply follow the flattish path along the mountain flank, past Heuberg and Abeweid to Oberbärgli, where you meet the main route again.
Variant - direct from Kandersteg
From Kandersteg train station (1176 m) first follow the road, then the hiking path east along the Öschibach up to the Oeschinensee. From here follow the western bank of the lake to join the normal approach beneath the Sennhütte.
