This is a nice, relatively easy and rewarding way to climb a four-thousander. Be aware, however, of the danger posed by occasional large crevasses. Usually one or more well-worn tracks adorn the Turtmann Glacier. Even so, in bad weather, orientation can be very difficult. Thick clouds regularly threaten to obscure the scene, so it's important to always take stock of your location when you can, get out the compass, and pay close attention to the tracks.
