The tour begins in Mayens des Plans on the road to Dixence, above the village of Mâche. The route, past the chalets of Mayen, continues through open fields and enters a narrow valley that leads to the N of the summit structure. You can reach the summit directly via the N slope or via the NW ridge.
Route description
Mayens des Plans – foot of the summit slope
From Mayens des Plans (around 1530 m) on the Dixence road, take the zigzag mountain road westwards via La Coûte, Le Louché (around 1800 m) and P. 1989, and continue to Orchère (2098 m). From there, bear NW, aiming for a much steeper slope, bordered on the right by a long rocky ridge. this brings you to the valley entrance of Combe des Giétros. Continue up the valley and, near the top, trend towards P. 2786 (Les Louettes Econduè), before finally turning left through a depression to reach the foot of the N facing summit slope. Depending on conditions, either directly via the north ridge to the summit or via the NW ridge (variant).
