Provided that there is sufficient snow in the valleys, Bäderhore in the Simmental has a great advantage: the descent has twice as many metres of vertical height than the ascent. Moreover, the tour is multifaceted, offering gentle terrain, wide skiing slopes and a summit ridge with a splendid view.
Route description
Jaunpass - Bäderhore
From Jaunpass take the road on the left of the ski lift leading northward to Bädermoos. Turn left across a ridge to reach the Bäderberg bowl. Now ascend north-westward to reach the begin of the Bäderhore south-west ridge (P. 1744). Follow the ridge to the summit.
Descent to Reidenbach
From the Bäderhore summit ski down the fairly steep south face until ca. 1800 m. Then turn left towards the NE ridge, which runs to Schwarzenmatt via Buufelbode, Linebode and Fangweide. It is a splendid descent along the edge of the forest. At 1000 m do not descend left to Schwarzenmatt, but ski straight ahead to reach the bridge across two creeks. Follow the shady trail to Reidenbach. By bus or on foot (15 min.) you reach the Boltigen railway station (816 m).
