Trouble-free hut approach with impressive views
The wide and easy hiking path will soon give rise to fantastic views of the Tiefengletscher basin with its imposing guardian, the Galenstock. At the same time, you can see the Albert Heim hut sitting on a striking rock head like an eagle's nest. If you want to soak up even more of the great surroundings, take the variant over the Schafberg and enjoy a great panoramic path that leads directly to the hut. Lovers of foaming mountain streams will get their money's worth with a second variant along the Tiefenbach.
Route description
Tiefenbach - Tätsch - Albert-Heim-Hütte
The well-marked trail leads from Hotel Tiefenbach in the direction of Albert-Heim-Hütte to the Tätsch car park at point 2272. This section can also be covered by car on a toll road (CHF 7.- per trip). A wide hiking path then leads to the Albert Heim hut with several, steeper and more direct or less steep, more scenic options.
Variant via Schafberg
After rounding the first corner on the wide hut path, the well-marked variant leads right over the Schafberg. The route (T3), known as the "Weg über die Stöck", and marked "white-red-white", leads via Ochsenalp to Schafberg and before descending directly along the ridge to the Albert Heim hut.
Variant following the Tiefenbach stream
From the Hotel Tiefenbach follow a footpath NW to reach the Tiefenbach stream. Now follow the stream's eastern bank up to the magical terrain of the Älpetli. You can follow the stream all the away to the bridge at approx. 2425 m, then turn right for the hut, or take an earlier righthand branch to meet the normal hut approach.
